Kyphoplasty
Kyphoplasty repairs painful compression fractures in the spine. A small balloon lifts the broken bone and medical cement holds it in place, often bringing fast relief and helping prevent a hunched posture.

Overview
What is kyphoplasty?
Compression fractures happen when a bone in the spine collapses, often because of osteoporosis, a fall or cancer weakening the bone. They can cause sharp back pain and loss of height.
Through a small needle, Dr. Khoury places a balloon into the broken bone, inflates it to restore space, then fills the space with bone cement. The cement hardens in minutes and stabilizes the fracture. Dr. Khoury also offers Intracept® basivertebral nerve ablation for chronic low back pain that starts in the vertebra itself.
Kyphoplasty is available at our offices in The Woodlands and Liberty, TX, performed by board-certified specialists who explain every step before you decide.

Frequently asked questions
How soon should a fracture be treated?
Results are best when the fracture is recent, often within the first few months. Call us early if you have sudden back pain.
Is it painful?
Numbing medicine and sedation keep you comfortable. Soreness at the needle site fades in a few days.
Can it prevent more fractures?
It treats the broken bone. Bone health care, like osteoporosis treatment, helps prevent new fractures.
